Visor

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 July 2026

Visor is a mobile app for motorcycle riders and drivers to discover roads, connect with other riders, ride together in real time, and compete on road leaderboards.

This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the Visor mobile app and the services behind it. By using Visor, you agree to this policy.

The short version: We collect the account and profile information you give us, the roads and rides you create, and content you post. Your live location while riding is broadcast to other riders in real time and is never stored on our servers. We use privacy-respecting product analytics to understand which features are used so we can improve the app. We run no advertising, we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not sell your data.

1. Who we are

Visor ("we", "us") is the operator of the Visor app. For any privacy question, reach us at support@visor-app.net. We act as the controller of the personal data described here.

2. Age requirement

Visor is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account or use the app. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected data from someone under 18, we will delete it. We ask for your date of birth to confirm eligibility.

Information created through use

Analytics, and what we don't do: We use product analytics to see which screens and features are used and where people run into friction, so we can improve the app. We do not use advertising SDKs, we do not build advertising profiles, we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.

4. Location data

Location is central to Visor, so we want to be precise about how it is handled.

Live location while riding — broadcast only, never stored

When you go live or ride with others, your device shares your current position so nearby riders and ride companions can see you on the map in real time. This live position is relayed to other riders and immediately discarded. It is never written to our database. There are no GPS-trail columns; the relay only re-broadcasts and does not save.

The one derived value we hold briefly is a coarse presence cell (roughly a 20 km area) with a short expiry, used only to help riders discover others nearby. It is never your exact position.

Location you choose to save

Some location data is stored because it is part of content you create:

Background location permission is used only to keep your live broadcast active while riding with the app in the background. It is subject to the same broadcast-only, never-stored rule above.

5. How we use data

6. Who we share data with

We use a small set of service providers to run Visor. They process data only to provide their service to us:

ProviderPurposeWhat it receives
SupabaseDatabase, authentication, real-time delivery, and file storageYour account, profile, and content data
MapboxMaps, place search, and route directionsMap tile requests, search text with your current coordinates for proximity, and route waypoints. No account identifier, email, or token is sent to Mapbox.
Expo push serviceDelivering push notificationsYour push token and the notification content (sender name and type only; message text is not included)
Apple & GoogleSign-in with Apple / GoogleAuthentication tokens exchanged during sign-in
ResendSending authentication emailsYour email address and the message being sent
PostHogProduct analytics (feature and screen usage)Pseudonymous usage events — screens viewed and features used. No message content and no exact location are sent. Data is hosted in the EU.

Other people using Visor also see the parts of your data you make social: your public profile, roads and reviews you post, messages you send, and your live position while you are riding with them. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the safety of users.

7. Photos and media

Photos you upload — avatars, cover images, garage and road photos — are stored with our storage provider. Before upload, images are re-encoded, which removes embedded metadata such as GPS coordinates.

Please note that avatar, cover, garage, and road photos are stored in public buckets: anyone who has the direct link to one of these images can view it, and the link contains your account identifier. Photos shared inside direct messages and group chats are restricted to the participants of that conversation.

8. Voice search

If you use voice search, your spoken audio is processed by Apple's speech-recognition service to convert it to text. This audio may be sent to Apple's servers as part of that process. If you prefer not to use it, simply type your searches instead.

9. Push notifications

With your permission, we send push notifications for messages, ride activity, and nearby-rider alerts. To do this we store a push token for your device. Notification previews are kept privacy-conscious: message and chat notifications show the sender's name and type, not the message content, and no notification contains your location.

10. Retention

We keep your account and content data for as long as your account exists. Live location is never retained, as described above. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data from our active systems, except where we must keep limited records to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes. Some content you shared with others (such as messages already delivered) may remain visible to those recipients.

11. Your rights and choices

12. Security

Access to data is enforced at the database level so that you can reach only the data you are permitted to. Privileged keys are never shipped in the app and are used only in trusted server functions. Stored files, credentials, and tokens are protected in our providers' systems. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to limit what we collect in the first place.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.

14. Contact
